According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Country Fresh, LLC, is recalling the products from retailers in nine states.
Check your refrigerator as a recall of fresh-cut vegetables is impacting several grocery, discount, and convenience stores across the Southeast because the food may be contaminated with potentially fatal Listeria bacteria.
Healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. In addition to pregnant women, those most at risk are young children, seniors and people with compromised immunes systems. It also has processing facilities in Grand Prairie, Orlando, South Carolina, and Houston. The products come packed in plastic containers or Styrofoam trays wrapped in plastic wraps.
The Food and Drug Administration announced the recall on Friday for the products, which have “Best If Used By” dates between August 7 to August 19.
To date, no illnesses have been confirmed by public health authorities.

The potential contamination was found during a single routine sample taken at a retail store by the Georgia Department of Agriculture. Considering the recall notice was published on August 26, it’s likely that anyone who purchased an affected product has either already consumed it or thrown it away, though consumes can return them to the store for a full refund. The company has ceased distribution of products that may be contaminated with listeria and investigations of ongoing.
