In late October, Rory Feek informed fans, via his blog, that his wife’s first round of chemotherapy and radiation treatments for Stage IV cervical cancer did not help; rather, two quarter-sized tumors had appeared in the same area that the doctors had been treating, and several more tumors had appeared in her abdomen. In the post, the dad reflected on their final days in the hospital and shared how his family is planning to spend as much time together as possible – especially Joey and in, who is 21 months old and has Down syndrome.

“At 4 a.m. Friday morning we rushed Joey to the hospital in Muncie. Not the answer we hoped for… but the answer He has given us”.

Rory has written songs for other artists, including Blake Shelton’s hit “Some Beach”, and in a new interview with Entertainment Tonight, Shelton lauded the couple for their faith and strength. At one point, doctors believed they removed all the cancer from her body, but sadly, it returned.

“To see what they’re going through as a family and what’s happening with Joey … you know, what can you say?” “Both of their eyes light up the moment they see each other”.

Joey has been reading storybooks that are able to record her voice so she can still share stories with her daughter after she’s gone.

Rory revealed recently that Joey has stopped taking treatment and is entering hospice.
