An Arlington couple who went missing last month and whose bodies were found Tuesday were shot to death, the Snohomish County Medical Examiner confirms.

“We are waiting for medical examiner confirmation but we have reason to believe that they are Patrick Shunn and Monique Patenaude”, Ireton said. On Tuesday, Tony Reed pleaded not guilty to two counts of first-degree murder during his arraignment in Everett – his first court appearance in Washington since U.S. Marshals took him into custody May 16 at the San Ysidro Port of Entry at the U.S. -Mexico border.
John Reed and the couple were former neighbors.

Authorities say John Reed and the couple had been involved in a property dispute. Reed threatened to shoot or assault them if they didn’t leave him alone, according to the affidavit for a search warrant.
The younger Reed has not helped track down his brother, prosecutors say.

Authorities later found dried blood in the bathtub of John Reed’s former home and bags of blood-covered, gasoline-soaked clothing under a mattress in the yard, the documents said.
