Couple suspected of kidnapping three children in police custody
A fugitive couple being sought in the kidnapping of three children whose mother was found dead off a remote Gorman-area road were arrested in Colorado Thursday, authorities said.

Humphrey and Robertson, who authorities had said should be considered armed and unsafe, were found after officers from the Pueblo Police Department were conducting an unrelated investigation at a local motel where they were staying, the sheriff’s department said.
Prior to her capture, Humphrey’s godmother told NBC Los Angeles that she’s “worried sick” and that her goddaughter wouldn’t have murdered Harvill.
Found safely in New Mexico were Harvill’s three children: her 5-year-old daughter Rylee Watkins; 3 year-old son Brayden Watkins, and 2-year-old Joslynn Watkins. The sheriff’s department said he called police after the couple asked him to watch the children and never returned. The 18-month-old girl traveling with them is safe and in the custody of the Pueblo Police Department.
Both Humphrey and Robertson are wanted on kidnapping charges and for questioning in the death of Kimberly Harvill.
They are considered armed and risky.
Joshua Aaron Robertson, 27, and Brittany Humphrey, 22, were arrested Thursday without incident in Pueblo, about 40 miles south of Colorado Springs, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Investigators said the couple kidnapped Harvill’s three young children, who were found safe Wednesday in a motel on the outskirts of Albuquerque.
They are identified as Joshua Robertson and Brittany Humphrey.
Harvill was found dead August 14 along Gorman Post Road in Lebec, close to Los Angeles County’s border with Kern County.
Humphrey, Robertson and the children are last known to have been in the Gallup area.
Robertson and Humphrey are believed to be traveling in Harvill’s green 1999 Ford Expedition, which may bear California license plate number 7BEK024, or paper plates. Their father died previously.
Humphrey is Harvill’s sister.
Authorities were considering issuing an Amber Alert for the children, sheriff’s Capt. Steve Katz said.
“We consider them at risk, and that’s why we reached out to law enforcement in all those states, and they’re working hand-in-hand with our investigators and trying to locate the children”, said LASD Lt. Joe Mendoza. “She was just altogether just a wonderful, wonderful person that everybody is going to definitely miss a lot”.

At this point, there’s no word on if or when the couple might be extradited back to California.
