Couple wanted in kidnapping of murdered woman’s children arrested in Colorado

Investigators said Humphrey, 22, and Robertson, 27 – who are considered persons of interest in Harvill’s death and are wanted for kidnapping the children – should be regarded as armed and unsafe.

Arrest warrants have been issued for Joshua Robertson, 27, and Brittany Humphrey, 22, the sheriff’s department said in a statement Tuesday night.

Kimberly Harvill was found dead in a wooded area outside Los Angeles with multiple gunshot wounds to her head.

Found safely in New Mexico were Harvill’s three children: her 5-year-old daughter Rylee Watkins; 3 year-old son Brayden Watkins, and 2-year-old Joslynn Watkins.

Humphrey and Robertson, who authorities had said should be considered armed and unsafe, were found by Pueblo police officers conducting an unrelated fugitive roundup at a local motel where the couple was staying, the sheriff’s department said.

“These subjects may possibly be heading to Thayer County, Nebraska or the immediate area”, the Sheriff’s Office announced on Facebook.

They believe Robertson and Humphrey took the kids after killing Harvill.

Investigators are also questioning the couple in the death of the kidnapped children’s mother, Kimberly Harvill.

Investigators have learned that Robertson also has in his care a toddler unrelated to the other children, Alexander said.

The couple, formerly of Fresno, had been moving “from motel to motel” and were staying in Lebec just before Harvill’s murder, according to police.

The couple had been on the run, wanted in the alleged kidnapping of Harvill’s three children.

Joshua Robertson and Brittany Humphrey are believed to be driving the victim’s green 1999 Ford Expedition, and may bear CA license plate #7BEK024, or paper plates.

Three of Harvill’s children were found Wednesday in a motel on the outskirts of Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Humphrey is the half-sister of the dead woman, and therefore the children’s aunt. Harvill’s body was found August 14 by a motorist who had made a rest stop on Gorman Post Road, just north of the 138 Freeway, in the northwest area of the county. Their father died previously.

Katz said detectives were expected to fly to Colorado on Saturday to interview the couple about Harvill.

“Immediately after the murder or sometime shortly after, it is suspicious that they did not come forward to law enforcement and instead fled”, Mendoza said.

At this point, there’s no word on if or when the couple might be extradited back to California.
