The dispute began when Rocco, 16, remained in London with his father after visiting the United Kingdom on Madonna’s world tour.

“Court documents obtained by TMZ reveal the couple were due to appear in a NY court on Wednesday but resolved their difference ‘hours before”.

A lawyer for Madonna declined to comment.

He refused to return to the USA with his mother for Christmas.

“As for the terms of the settlement … they’re confidential”, notes TMZ, “but unless things have radically changed Rocco will go back to London for school and Madonna will see her son frequently”.

Reports say the former spouses have settled their differences shortly before they were due in court.

In March, a NY judge and a British judge both separately urged the former spouses to find an amicable resolution for Rocco’s sake.

Ellen Sigal, a court-appointed lawyer for Rocco, said that the dispute was causing him stress.

“It’s been a very hard time for him”, she said in court.

In March, Madonna became overcome with emotion while dedicating the song La Vie en Rose to her then-estranged son.

The couple has been urged by both a NY and British judge to find an amicable resolution for Rocco’s sake. “If I talk about him too much I might cry”.

Madonna and Ritchie married in 2000 and divorced eight years later.

Madonna and Ritchie also have an adopted son who was born in Malawi. Madonna is also mother to two other children, Lourdes, 19 and Mercy James, 9.
