He accused Obi of not only disrespecting the authority of the court by secretly securing an ex-parte order in Port Harcourt, but also treating the court with levity.

In an interview after the ruling, counsel to Senator Ben Obi, Mr Wori Nyeche Wori, said with the granting of the interlocutory injunction, the party had the legal backing to carry on with the August 17 PDP National Convention. Democracy is not anchored on the whims and caprices of any persons.

Apart from Makarfi who was joined as the third defendant, others comprising, Ben Obi, Odion Ugbesia, Abdul Ningi, Kabiru Usman, Dayo Adeyeye, Aisha Aliyu, were joined as the fourth to the ninth defendants.

The application was premised on the grounds that, he had filed a motion before the Appeal Court challenging an earlier ruling of the court, which held that the Makarfi led faction; been an apostle of political impunity, had no constitutional backing for selecting a representative for the PDP. Tunde Adeniran, has urged delegates to the convention to consider his unblemished record of public service and unbroken years of worthy service to the party in making their decision about who occupies the exalted seat of the National Chairman of the party.

Abang frowned at the claim of Orbih that he had filed an appeal against the ruling adding that the lawyer failed to put the notice of the appeal at the disposal of the court.

Two Senior Advocates of Nigeria today exchanged words over an application seeking to stop hearing in the suit on the chairmanship of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The hearing of Sheriff’s motion was adjourned till Tuesday.

Describing Senator Obi’s conduct as “unfortunate and unlawful”, Justice Abang queried his motive in “rushing to another court”, when he was already seized with facts of the case.
