The Belgium international’s strained relationship with goalkeepers’ coach Christophe Lollichon is one factor behind his discontent. Ter Stegen, who plays in the Champions League and Copa Del Rey matches for Barcelona, is unhappy with the amount of game time he gets at the club.
Chelsea originally bought Courtois from Genk in his homeland in 2011 but sent him out on loan to Atletico Madrid for a total of three years.
The 23-year-old played a crucial role in last season’s Premier League and Capital One Cup double, but his future has fell under scrutiny in a complicated campaign for both the team and himself.
‘Rumours affect any club where things are going badly.
With the arrival of Antonio Conte as manager next season, Chelsea are expected to go through sweeping changes and a number of surplus players have been touted to leave the club during the upcoming summer. People think the top players want to leave because they are not in the Champions League.
“Me, I like playing in England”.
Courtois has had a poor season by his high standards and has made just 21 Premier League appearances this term due to injury and competition with Asmir Begovic. By keeping important players such as Courtois around, and making a few key signings, Chelsea’s return to the Champions League should only take a short while.
