Cowboys don’t plan on placing injured Tony Romo on IR, report says

The Cowboys will have rookie quarterback Dak Prescott as their starting quarterback, with Sanchez behind him as a back-up and probably a mentor while the Cowboys do not have Tony Romo’s services. Romo gives the Cowboys the best chance to win games and they have definitely missed him in the past two season when he has been injured. That certainly wasn’t in our plans; you certainly hope something like that doesn’t happen.

Sunday was the first day that the Cowboys could have placed Romo on injured reserve and the team opted not to do so.

“You look around”, Prescott said. In a high scoring affair, the Giants will battle back in the second half only to fail to bring Manning and the offense on the field when it matters the most – as Alfred Morris helps the Cowboys’ offense dominate the time of possession in the second half. The pressure is not on me. He’s an experienced guy who has a lot of ability.

Romo’s return to health after missing 12 games last year with a fractured clavicle was the foundation of hope for a bounce-back season and playoff run following last year’s 4-12 campaign. “So I am positive that we are going to get Dale back to being a race vehicle driver”, Collins said. “We really feel good about our team”.

Horton had spent the last three seasons with the Panthers, playing in 41 games with 17 starts.

AMONG THE NEWCOMERS: DE Benson Mayowa and DT Cedric Thornton signed with Dallas in free agency, while the draft produced another end-tackle tandem in Maliek Collins of Nebraska (third round) and Charles Tapper from Oklahoma (fourth).

Four-time Pro Bowl return specialist Devin Hester has agreed to a one-year deal with the Baltimore Ravens.

SEASONED SECONDARY: The most experienced part of the defense is the secondary with CBs Orlando Scandrick, Brandon Carr and Morris Claiborne, and S Barry Church.

Two weeks ago he was in contention to be the Broncos’ starter but they chose to go with Trevor Siemian as their top quarterback with rookie Paxton Lynch as the backup.

After arriving in the league in 2009, the 29-year-old has now moved to four teams. While AT&T Stadium hasn’t provided an overwhelming home field advantage for the Cowboys, they have been able to come away with a win in both of these meetings with NY.
