Cowboys’ Moore break ankle, scrambling backup QB plan

That all changed on Tuesday, Aug. 2, when an offensive lineman rolled up Moore, breaking the quarterback’s fibula or ankle depending on the report.

The Cowboys’ quarterback depth chart looks like this as of now; Tony Romo, Prescott and camp arm Jameill Showers out of Texas El-Paso. Tony Romo was sidelined and missed 12 games in the previous season due to a season-ending broken collarbone injury.

Manziel would make sense as he is looking to get his career back on track, he’s been on the record as saying he would like to play for Dallas, and Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has said that he would like to help Manziel and then sign him.

“It’s regrettable, and we’ll basically just take a look at it and address it there”, Jones said. After shutting down talk over the weekend that the team would bring in former St. Louis Rams and Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Nick Foles, it seems like that’s become the real option.

Jones had been vocal last week that they are not interested in getting Foles, who was released by the Los Angeles Rams.

The 25-year-old Brate, who had 23 receptions for 288 yards and three touchdowns in 14 games last season, has elevated past 2014 second-round pick Austin Seferian-Jenkins in the eyes of Koetter.

“It’s an opportunity for me to take more reps, get more snaps, and it’s something I’m going to come in and make sure I’m ready for”, Prescott said.

“Even we don’t know all the details”, Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones said when asked about McClain as he walked off the field after Tuesday’s walkthrough.

The Cowboys roster is in shambles.

The injury is a big blow to Moore, who was set up for the biggest year of his National Football League career. It’s really just about your ability for me to throw it as accurate as I can (and) for him to be able to run all day and not get exhausted.

You have to figure there’s no way the Cowboys want to go into this season with their backup QB being a fourth-round rookie.

Sporting News NFL Writer Alex Marvez is touring training camps with SiriusXM NFL Radio. “He was the first one to say, ‘Hey, I’m not going anywhere”.

Still, this is not a starting gig, and Foles will not have to deal with the pressure of being “the man” while he tries to rediscover the magic from three years ago. You can see why Dallas has interest in McCown, however the Browns wouldn’t be dealing from a position of strength.
