Cowboys owner Jerry Jones says Brandon Weeden is a ‘gifted passer’
Dallas Cowboys fans, if you’re anxious that your season is ruined with Tony Romo now injured, fret not, you have Brandon Weeden ready to step up.

Here’s something that never occurred to me before now: all the criticism of Jerry Jones during his run with the Cowboys is something he’s embraced. Why? Jones stated it’s “a thing of beauty” when the veteran backup throws the football.
Asked by HBO’s Bernard Goldberg about the criticism he’s received, Jones said he’s hardly anxious about negative feedback and says the criticism of the Cowboys “has enhanced… the value” of his team. “His passing motion and his arm, frankly, you won’t see a more gifted passer, power, accuracy, the entire aspect of it. If he can basically prepare, be the starting quarterback, come in and execute and keep his head right, then I feel good about Weeden”. The Oklahoma State product is just 5-16 in his 21 career starts, completing 56.4 percent of his passes with more interceptions (28) than touchdowns (27). And he is also comfortable with Tony Romo’s replacement at quarterback.
“Certainly we think Weeden has really progressed”, Jones said. With a running back tandem in Joseph Randle and Darren McFadden that is lackluster at best and questions about ability at the receiver position, Weeden could struggle.
Jones hasn’t been the only one talking up Weeden this year.
“In the next couple days we’ll try to determine if that’s a worthwhile option for us”, Garrett said.

Romo broke his collarbone after being sacked by Jordan Hicks in the Cowboys’ defeat of the Eagles on Sunday, and is expected to be missing for about eight weeks. But despite not having to undergo surgery, Romo will miss about seven games.
