The Cowboys wrap up their preseason on Thursday, Sept. 1, when they host the Houston Texans. The Seahawks are 1-1 after losing 18-11 to Minnesota in Week 2.

Dak Prescott shrugs at the suggestion that the Dallas rookie quarterback’s startling success in two preseason games is a product of what skeptics might call the “vanilla” defenses of the exhibition season.

“I think initially he was in a little bit of shock and didn’t feel real good”, Garrett said. He stayed on the ground for a while holding his back. Or at least, that’s what Jones said.

The 36-year old quarterback has not played a full 16-game season since 2012.

What does not need to happen is for egotistical owner Jerry Jones to get antsy and usher in the Prescott Era prematurely because the rookie is playing at such an outstanding level.

If Romo doesn’t play again this preseason – he’s played only 15 snaps in parts of two games – he doesn’t feel it will hinder his ability to be ready for the regular season opener against the New York Giants on September 11. That’s when you’re going to make mistakes.

“He had a great week this week”, Carroll said in an interview on KJR-AM on Tuesday.

However, the Seahawks did a good job of keeping pressure off of Wilson and Trevone Boykin throughout the game. Tony Romo took a couple of steps backwards but ended up being sacked by Seattle Seahawks defensive end Cliff Avril, one of the best pass rushers in the NFL.

According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Seahawks are 6-point home favorites versus the Cowboys while tonight’s over/under now sits at 43.5 points.

There are those who will point to the hit as evidence toward Romo’s tenuous status for the Cowboys, considering he missed 12 games a year ago after twice-fracturing his left collarbone and hasn’t played full 16 games since 2012.

Perhaps his most memorable carry is when he bounced off Seahawks safety Kam Chancellor for a few extra yards.

What Romo saw from the sideline was an impressive initial flash from rookie running back Ezekiel Elliott and a solid performance by backup QB Dak Prescott against one of the top defenses in the NFL.

Wilson’s touchdown toss thrust the Seahawks ahead, 10-7, with less than three minutes remaining in the opening half, but Prescott marched his troops down the field and completed eight of eight passes for 64 yards to set up kicker Dan Bailey for a field goal just before halftime. “I’m going to go out there and do what I do and play football and everything will work out”. “He’s got that personality where he’s constantly trying to learn”. Linebacker Justin Durant also made his preseason debut after the Cowboys worked the veteran into condition after signing him before training camp.

“I don’t think easy’s the right word”, said Prescott, who joined Tim Tebow as the only SEC quarterbacks with at least 70 touchdowns passing and 40 rushing in a career. I’m thankful for that. “I’m never in the business of trying to hurt anybody”, Avril said. “And then come in on game day and just unleash and try to have fun”.

It would be a challenge now for the Cowboys to decide how Romo’s condition will change their offense.
