Cowboys sign QB Mark Sanchez
The Broncos could pay the price this season for one such move. I estimate that the club’s QB salary cap is now only $3,021,158 – Trevor Siemian ($538,195), Paxton Lynch ($1,722,963), and Austin Davis ($760,000) – a total outlay significantly lower than any other National Football League team.

Dixon’s strong leg and work ethic may make that miscue nothing more than a blip, but it also highlights the dangers of going with youth over experience. That led to a six-play, 45-yard Cardinals touchdown drive, Barkley throwing 14 yards to Jaxson Shipley for the TD with 30 seconds left in the half. He also was the holder when Brandon McManus missed a 46-yard field goal in Denver’s loss to the Cardinals. “We’ve got a fullback that can really play in (Andy) Janovich and who does a great job”.
The Broncos did not see a future with Sanchez, but when they cut him it did not mean that another team would not want him.
“He can carry a lot of information in a short period of time”, coach Gary Kubiak said Sunday. Sanchez’s release cleared him to join any team.
Davis, 27, was signed by the Rams as an undrafted free agent in 2012 and has played 13 career games (10 starts) with St. Louis and, most recently, Cleveland. He was a Pro Bowler in 2014, when he rushed for 1,266 yards and eight TDs.
Last year, the Broncos put their 39-year-old QB in the pistol or shotgun, which limited their ground game and play-action possibilities. He was beaten out by former seventh-round pick Trevor Siemian and rookie Paxton Lynch during training camp and preseason, which led the Broncos front office to deem him expendable.
Despite losing Malik Jackson and Danny Trevathan to free agency, Denver’s dazzling defense could be even better than the one that brought home the Lombardi Trophy seven months ago with a 24-10 win over the Carolina Panthers, whom they open the season against Thursday night in Denver.
The Denver Broncos dashed the dreams of Mark Sanchez to become part of a Super Bowl contender team including his hopes of landing a starting role. “But with Trevor, for a young guy who hasn’t taken a lot of snaps, he handles the huddle very well, guys like him and respect him”.

That makes Sanchez an expensive No. 3 at $4.5 million. Sanchez was a low-risk investment, and in the end the Broncos decided it was more prudent to keep the draft pick they would have shipped to the Philadelphia Eagles if they had kept Sanchez on the roster.
