A year after the New York Giants gifted the Dallas Cowboys a Week 1 victory in the form of repeated clock-management blunders, their NFC East rival returned the favor on Sunday. Protecting the rookie quarterback may have been the reason for the caution, but in the National Football League the timid come up just short.

But for one week at least the results were the same, largely because the Cowboys had to settle for four field goals and conservative play-calling by coach Jason Garrett. If Dez comes down with either ball in the end zone, which we have seen him do time and again, we may be talking about a different outcome. It prevented the Cowboys from attempting a long field goal.
