The FDNY, the NYPD and the Office of Emergency Management were called to the scene when part of a crane pulley assembly struck the building just before 8:30 p.m. An official with the city’s Office of Emergency Management says the crane has been secured to the building, which now is 45 stories high.

The building, which is under construction, was unoccupied.

A crane, which had a weighted ball attached to it, was being pulled back up after it had unloaded materials on the ground, the construction company said. Although a glass panel was cracked, nothing fell or is in danger of falling.

A heavy gust of wind sent the headache ball of a crane into the window of Three World Trade Centre in NY yesterday creating a shower of news reports featuring the crane.

John Gallagher, a Tishman Construction spokesman, said the panel will be replaced, and safety inspectors are now investigating the incident, CBS New York reported. Safety inspectors are examining the site. “The panel will be replaced”. It’s set to open in early 2018 and is 80 stories tall.

A wrecking ball hit a window on the 12th floor of 3 World Trade Center. The building is one of three new skyscrapers that replace the twin towers destroyed in the Sept. 11 2001 attacks
