The arm of the crane is now straddling the bridge on the Rockland County side, stopping all traffic in both directions on the Hudson River span.

There were no immediate reports of injuries.

Other local news footage showed at least one person being loaded onto an ambulance stretcher. Images from NewsCopter 7 showed debris across the highway and traffic backed up for miles. Emergency personnel could be seen flocking to the scene.

A new replacement bridge has been under construction beside the old bridge, several cranes have been helping to construct that new bridge.

In March, a 90-foot tugboat sank after it hit a construction barge near the bridge site, killing three crew members.
