Two outstanding college football punters were killed Saturday in a vehicle wreck in Wisconsin, the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department said. Foltz, 22, a senior at Nebraska, and 24-year-old Sadler, a former punter at Michigan State, were both serving as staff members at the Kohl’s National Invitational Scholarship Camp for high school kickers and punters at Kettle Moraine High School in Wales, the newspaper noted. Delahoussaye, 21 of New Iberia, Louisiana, was treated at a Waukesha hospital and released. Tigers sports information director Michael Bonnette told ESPN that Delahoussaye needed stitches and suffered burns to his legs.

Messages left Sunday afternoon with the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department by the Lansing State Journal weren’t returned.

“Last night, we lost one of the best young men who I have ever had the honor to coach and who has ever worn the Nebraska uniform”, Nebraska coach Mike Riley said in a statement. “So they took a chance, they knew what they were getting, so if I have to wear the Rose Bowl shirt around campus, then I don’t think they can really say much”, he told the station in May.

Michigan State head coach Mark Dantonio said on the school website: “Mike impacted so many people not only as a football player, but also from an academic standpoint and in the community as well. He was one of those people that brightened your day”. They used their platforms in the best possible way, representing themselves, their families and their programs like any coach or fan dreams of every player doing.

Foltz (was in the front passenger seat) and Sadler (who was driving), were declared dead at the scene of the crash.

Foltz was a three-year starter for the Nebraska team and last year he was named the Big Ten’s punter of the year.

Sadler was a four year starter from 2011 through 2014 and was a four time academic all-american, the first in Michigan State University history. Sadler said that he was “ecstatic”.

Sadler finished his MSU career ranked among the football program’s all-time leaders in punts (second with 268), punting yards (second with 11,307) and punting average (sixth at 42.2), according to MSUSpartans.com. He had a tryout with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in May.
