Crash survivor called 911 following fiery crash that killed punters Foltz, Sadler

The Nebraska senior punter was killed in an automobile crash Saturday night in Merton, Wisconsin, the news stunning a team and fan base that had come to admire him as much more than just a football player. They would gather at the Kohl’s Kicking Camp in Whitewater, Wis., and stay at the house of Wisconsin punter Drew Meyer.

Riley said he felt thankful to coach Foltz for one year.

Foltz was going to be Hahn’s best man when he got married.

“She was able to visit with Colby and get closure”, Dwayne Delahoussaye said. It was supposed to happen that way. Foltz and Sadler died at the scene. He was turned to Waukesha Memorial Hospital for his injuries. Sadler reportedly lost control on a wet road and hit a tree before the vehicle started on fire. It would appear that speed was a key factor in the auto crash.

The Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the crash.

Foltz was a starter for three years for the Nebraska football team and was awarded the Big Ten’s punter award for the season last year. He graduated with a degree in agronomy in May.

Foltz was raised on a farm near Greeley and, starting in fourth grade, attended Grand Island public schools through his high school graduation. In 2011, Foltz helped lead the Islanders to the state quarterfinals.

Harbaugh, whose Wolverines are expected to challenge Ohio State for the top spot in the Big Ten East, had fun recently participating in a Rap video. It’s rare to see that kind of combination, but he was everything packed into one.

Puyol said he doesn’t seek out accolades and recognition for his good works, but it is gratifying to use his platform to make a difference.

As competitive as he was, Foltz also had a knack for entertaining teammates with his quips and jokes.

A limited number of single-game tickets to the season-opening game against LSU at Lambeau Field will go on sale at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday. “That definitely was part of it for Sam, too”, Tomlin said.

Tears flowed while hugs and stories were exchanged at a prayer vigil Sunday afternoon. Funeral arrangements have not been announced. An emergency team meeting followed.
