Crew SC’s Swanson and Lampson tabbed by Donovan for MLS Homegrown Game

Swanson, an 18-year-old rookie who has never made an official MLS appearance, is one of nine other midfielders on the roster, many of which have already established themselves as MLS regulars, including Chicago’s Harry Shipp, Vancouver’s Russell Teibert, Philadelphia’s Zach Pfeffer and Colorado’s Dillon Serna.

2015 marks the second version of the Chipotle Homegrown game, and the side will be managed by Landon Donovan. The team will face the Club America U-20’s on July 28th in a showcase of young talent before the All-Star game on July 29, 2015.

Turner has played in four games this season for Orlando City, starting two, and has shown versatility with his ability to play as a right back or even at right midfield.

Pfeffer has played 27 games with the Union, with 18 of those games coming from this season.

“The development of Major League Soccer’s youth academy system continues to be one of the league’s highest priorities”, said Todd Durbin, Executive Vice President of Player Relations and Competition. The Colorado Rapids duo of Shane O’Neill (Colorado Rapids) and Dillon Serna (Colorado Rapids) will be joined by fellow U.S. Under-23 teammates Tyler Turner (Orlando City SC), Jalen Robinson (D.C. United) and Oscar Sorto (LA Galaxy). The young Ontario, Canada, native was most recently part of the Canadian roster for the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup and notched his first worldwide goal this year in Canada’s 2-0 win over Dominica in CONCACAF World Cup qualifying on June 11. Allen was selected to the U.S. U-20 World Cup roster and saw time for the U-20s during the tournament in New Zealand before the Americans were knocked out in a penalty shootout in the quarterfinal stage against Serbia.
