Crews Gain Ground on Clayton Fire
A 6-square-mile blaze was 65 percent contained after destroying at least 300 structures, including 175 homes and eight businesses, in the working-class community of Lower Lake.

Porter, the armourer of the medal-winning 2016 team, along with his wife, Karen, returned home to Lower Lake this week. Fire suppression fix has begun in an effort to minimize the effects of the fires damage.
The Oakland Raiders and San Francisco 49ers have both teamed up to help the recovery efforts for the Clayton Fire in Lake County. Mandatoryn evacuations include areas within the fire perimeter served by Morgan Valley Road. Officials estimate that by Sunday night firefighters will reach full containment of the blaze.
The blaze, which began August 13, is the largest of a dozen fires that Clearlake resident Damin Pashilk is charged with setting over the past year. An attorney for Damin Anthony Pashlik, the 40-year-old former construction worker accused of starting the Clayton fire, reminded angry residents that his client, who lives in in a trailer in Clearlake, was innocent until proven guilty.
PG&E advised people to avoid electrical wires on the ground and call PG&E at 800-743-5000 if there are downed power lines.

On Aug. 21, Cal Fire’s Incident Management Team 3 will transition command of the Clayton Fire to the Cal Fire/Sonoma Lake Napa Unit.
