Both the Cornet-Windy Ridge and the Canyon Complex were caused by lightning.

The Testalinden Creek fire measured 16 square kilometres and was 40 per cent contained, while the Wilson Mountain fire was 317 hectares and 70 per cent contained.
But why are fires getting so much worse?
Investigators determined that the fire was accidentally sparked by someone mowing grass. The fire was started by lightning August 1 and is 10 percent contained.
Wildfire activity has escalated recently after thunderstorms, many with little or no moisture, moved across parts of California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Montana, sparking hundreds of new fires. Flames and smoke were visible from downtown.

“The property is outside the (Kimberley) fire protection area; BC Wildfire Management attended and monitored the situation to ensure the fire did not spread”.
The firefighters sleep in the woods, get up every morning and work a full day, said Allen, the deputy incident commander.

Some evacuation warnings were downgraded on the north end of the fire perimeter, where homes burned Friday.
