Crews Respond to Explosion at School in Marble Hill

CBS New York reported the blast occurred just after 8 p.m.at John F. Kennedy High School in the Marble Hill neighborhood.

An explosion at John F. Kennedy High School in New York City injured three people, one critically, emergency officials said Thursday. The official cause of the explosion was not clear. In total three floors were seriously damaged.

The school, located at 99 Terrace View Ave., suffered heavy structural damage to the fourth, fifth, and sixth floors in the blast. A police spokesperson says the injuries are not considered life-threatening.

The FDNY was headed to a high school in the northwest Bronx late Thursday after reports of an explosion. At the time of the explosion, construction crews were renovating areas where the science labs were / would be housed.

Three people were taken to a local hospital – one was in critical condition and two were in serious condition, authorities said. “Hundreds of FDNY, NYPD EMS and OEM on scene”.
