CRF Frozen Foods Products Recalled After Reports of Listeria Outbreak

CRF Frozen Foods of Pasco, Washington, has expanded a voluntary recall for some of its products, which included organic and non-organic fruits and vegetables because of the risk of Listeria, according to the company’s statement. Two of those people died, but the CDC says that “listeriosis was not considered to be a cause of death”. The recall includes all frozen organic and nonorganic fruit and vegetable products manufactured or processed at CRF’s facility in Pasco, Wash., since May 1, 2014.

After further testing, officials found that the food products were related genetically to the Listeria found in the ill patients, the CDC reported, providing a more concrete link to CRF Frozen Foods. All have best-by dates or sell-by dates between April 26, 2016 and April 26, 2018. “The expanded recall comes after CRF issued a recall last week for 15 frozen vegetable products”.

Recalled products “include organic and non-organic broccoli, butternut squash, carrots, cauliflower, corn, edamame, green beans, Italian beans, kale, leeks, lima beans, onions, peas, pepper strips, potatoes, potato medley, root medley, spinach, sweet potatoes, various vegetable medleys, blends, and stir fry packages, blueberries, cherries, cranberries, peaches, raspberries, and strawberries”.

The frozen food processing company has informed all retailers who might have carried the contaminated products, which could have been bought in all 50 US states including the four Canadian provinces, as reported by MSN.
