Criminal charges in Tulsa police shooting may prevent unrest
“At the same time the DA was identifying the charges, the family was at the funeral home preparing to bury Terence”, Solomon-Simmons said.

Convictions in police-involved fatal shootings are few and far between. In Charlotte, there was violence for two nights.
Mr Crutcher’s twin sister, Tiffany Crutcher, said her family welcomed the charge.
If proven guilty, she may face four years in prison.
Tulsa County District Attorney Steve Kunzweiler announced the charge Thursday.
“We take solace with the outpouring of support for our community”, Tiffany Crutcher said Thursday.
The charges came just days after authorities released dashcam and aerial footage, 911 calls and police radio traffic related to the September 16 shooting in Tulsa.
In a statement Thursday, Fallin complimented Tulsa’s police chief, mayor, district attorney and citizens for helping to keep peace and order “during this hard time”.
Crutcher’s death, along with that of another black man killed at the hands of police this week, has sparked protests nationwide. Another officer, Tyler Turnbough, tasered Crutcher before Shelby fired, Jordan said. It has stirred broad debate on race and justice in the United States and given rise to the Black Lives Matter movement.
“There is now no credible information that any of the gatherings, protests, or rallies will be anything other than peaceful”, the Tusla Police Department posted on its Facebook page.
Police cameras, including ones mounted in squad cars and in a helicopter, captured the Crutcher shooting on tape.
Officer Shelby told investigators “that she was in fear for her life and thought Crutcher was going to kill her”, according to an arrest sworn statement.
President Barack Obama says recent reports of unarmed African Americans being shot by police “should be a source of concern for all Americans”.
Bartlett promised authorities would “continue to be transparent and ensure the system carries out its responsibility to provide justice”.
Asked where Shelby went after her release from jail Friday morning, Wood said, “We just want to make sure she is in a safe place at all times”.
Dash cam footage shows Crutcher walking toward his vehicle with his hands in the air.
She claimed Mr Crutcher did not follow her commands and she opened fire when he began to reach into his auto window.
Tulsa police have said Crutcher was unarmed and there was no weapon in the vehicle.
