ABC Studios and CBS Television Studios, which produce the series, announced his dismissal in a joint statement. I regret that it occurred, ‘ Mr Gibson said in a statement on Friday. After things turned physical, that writer wanted to know what show executives were going to do about the actor’s behavior.

According to reports, Gibson was directing an episode of the show’s upcoming 12th season when he had an on-set dispute with a writer.

Details on how Gibson’s character will be written out of the show, which follows a team of Federal Bureau of Investigation agents, is expected to come at a later date, according to the ABC Studios and CBS Television Studios statement.

Criminal Minds stars an ensemble cast that includes Matthew Gray Gubler, A.J. Cook, Paget Brewster, and Kirsten Vangsness, among others. One source with knowledge of the 2010 incident – which allegedly involved Gibson shoving the assistant director – said many staff members were dismayed that he was not let go at that time.

The 54-year-old actor has been a cast member of the police procedural drama since it began in 2005.

Given probation, Mr Gibson was ordered to attend alcohol education classes. Last season was also the last for series regular Shemar Moore. The actor has long commuted to the “Criminal Minds” set in Glendale, Calif., from his home in San Antonio, Texas, where his three children live.
