Cris ‘Cyborg’ conquers the scale ahead of UFC debut

Some buzz erupted last week when UFC women’s bantamweight champion Miesha Tate revealed on “The Joe Rogan Experience” podcast that her archrival Ronda Rousey had supposedly blown up on women’s strawweight contender Paige VanZant at a Reebok event after hearing that “12 Gauge” had congratulated Holly Holm for beating her a year ago. Darin Harvey announced that he was calling off his lawsuit after book publisher Regan Arts “agreed to make material changes to portions of the paperback, ebook and audio book editions and all future printings of the book”. Whoever wins at UFC 200 will likely be in line to face Ronda Rousey next, someone that Holm had defeated at UFC 193 previous year.

These days, fight fans are more likely to read about Rousey’s next movie role, or see images of the former champ on the cover of an unrelated magazine than learn of her next test inside the octagon.

The lawyer representing Rousey, Alexander Polyachenko, said that the terms of the settlement wassupposed to be confidential. “Her book failed to acknowledge the important role I played in all of that and, in my view, defamed me in several respects”. Sports the changes are “extremely minor and would not in any way alter the theme or flow of Ms. Rousey’s memoir”.

The sides previously disagreed over money Harvey claimed to invest in Rousey, as part of an agreement that the former manager felt covered earnings from fighting and other commercial interests. “I’m going to beat Amanda [Nunes] on the 9th, and I’m going to go on and hopefully, after that, we’ll see Ronda in Madison Square Garden. Ronda’s going to come out and let us know when she’s ready to fight again”. In February, Rousey and Harvey settled for an undisclosed sum, in the process making nice for a press release.
