Cris Cyborg refuses to fight new UFC champion Amanda Nunes

All five main card fights delivered to an extent, from the opening heavyweight brawl between Cain Velasquez and Travis Browne to the closing main event of Miesha Tate vs. Amanda Nunes and the fascinating Brock Lesnar vs. Mark Hunt exhibition.

“One fight doesn’t make or break me”.

“I am honored to share the Octagon with the one of the greatest fighters of all time”, Cormier said.

“Nina is the best training partner I have in my life”, Nunes said.

The Seattle native appeared dazed as the contest ended and clambered all over a stunned, overjoyed Nunes, telling her “You’re amazing”.

Her current task is Nunes, a Brazilian veteran on a three-fight winning streak. She eventually took her back on the ground and secured a rear-naked choke to earn the submission… and become the NEW women’s champion. “I just beat the girl who beat both the champion and the champion’s opponent”, she said at the post-fight presser, referring to her UFC 200 opponent Cat Zingano. This is what I have been saying about Amanda.

Meanwhile, Holly Holm first needs to win her fight against Valentina Shevchenko in UFC on FOX 20’s headliner on July 23. “I got careless, and it cost me really big”.

“It’s very sad”, Nunes said of the Orlando tragedy. Nunes quickly took Tate’s back and put her Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt to use.

Whatever Nunes game planned clearly worked like a charm, as she tagged Tate early, knocked her off her mental balance and then absolutely devoured her unlike anything we’ve seen from Nunes or from Tate before.

Nunes was patient, however, and picked her spots with lead right hands and combinations. Instead of continuing the fistic onslaught, the Lioness took her kill’s back.

“Look at her, she’s shy”, Nunes said as Ansaroff sheepishly covered her face with a towel. “But I kept coming, and eventually knew that this was happening”.

With Tate’s loss, the UFC has now had four women’s bantamweight champions since November of 2015. Women in UFC has gone from “never” to the headline of the biggest fight of the year. She was the second-best fighter in her emerging sport, twice failing to stop Rousey’s remarkable rise to stardom. I know I have to change a lot of things and work on my patience like I did tonight. But I’m prepared for whatever; I don’t think it’s going to define me.
