Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos, who scored the opening goal in the match, praised manager Zinedine Zidane for the impact he’s had since taking charge in January. We started the game really strongly and Atlético didn’t have a shot on goal in the first half, but then they drew level and made it really hard for us. Coach Zinedine Zidane had lavished praise on Ronaldo after the three-time World Player of the Year appeared to struggle through the final.

“I had a vision and saw I was going to score the winning goal, so I asked Zidane to take the fifth penalty”.

He said: “This season I was the number one in the team, again, for most minutes. I always keep the people who love me [close]”, Ronaldo told British media.
