Real Madrid and Portugal superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has won the UEFA Best Player in Europe award for the second time.

The trio were part of an original 10 man list released by European football governing body, UEFA last month.

The victor will be announced on Thursday in Monaco at the 2016-17 Champions League group-phase draw.

Reflecting on winning the gong for a second time, Ronaldo said: “It’s unbelievable”.

Delighted with winning the UEFA Best Player in Europe, Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo now feels he will win his fourth Ballon d’Or this season.

But Ronaldo’s year was just too phenomenal as he scored 51 club goals in the span of 48 matches.

But under Zidane, the club finished the domestic season by winning 12 straight games to lose out on the LaLiga title by one point to Barcelona, while they also won the Champions League following a dramatic penalty shoot-out win over Atletico Madrid. Obviously I want to win trophies with my team, with my country, and when you do that you get put up for awards like this. Once again [as in 2014] against Atlético Madrid, who are an excellent side and also deserved to win the Champions League. but Real Madrid were better.

Ronaldo has so far faced Griezmann twice in club finals – in Champions League 2016 and back in 2014.

“Two in three years is an fantastic achievement”, he said. “But it’s good, I am happy we are in the same group”. Bale was one of Ronaldo’s team-mates in the Spanish capital and skippered Wales to the semi-final stage of Euro 2016. I will work to achieve it as I’ve done every year.

“It’s a great honor”, Ronaldo said, per UEFA.com.
