Cristiano Ronaldo Reveals Real Madrid Desire Amid Latest Contract Rumours

The Portuguese defender had had an extended break this summer after winning Euro 2016 with his national side, meaning he was not deemed fit enough to play in the league opener at Real Socieded last weekend. Speaking after picking up the award though, according to Marca, Ronaldo insisted he was far from done yet – and that he in fact meant to stay at Madrid for another nine years.

He said: “It was an unforgettable year for club and country, plus collectively and individually”.

The announcement was made following the Champions League draw, with Ronaldo pipping teammate Gareth Bale and Atletico Madrid striker Griezmann to the award. I want to win La Liga, the Copa del Rey and the Champions League and go to the World Cup with Portugal.

The Portugal captain hasn’t yet played this season for his club Real Madrid, and wasn’t called up on Friday for Portugal’s friendly against Gibraltar on September 1, and first World Cup qualifier against Switzerland five days later. Now I need to be calm but my aim is to extend my contract and stay in the club that I like the most. 48 teams competing in this year’s competition have been split into 12 groups of four teams.

In 2009, Real Madrid signed Ronaldo for 80 million pounds from English Premier League (EPL) club Manchester United. “Everybody is talking about the (contract) renewal, yet we should all relax, as we’re going to enjoy his presence and leadership for many years to come”.
