Cristiano Ronaldo seems to be a man on a mission, every time he takes the pitch for Real Madrid in the Champions League. He was very mobile, and that was key, above all at the start of the game.

Neymar’s father has launched into critics of his son following PSG’s Champions League defeat at Real Madrid on Wednesday night.

Having splashed 400 million euros on Neymar and Kylian Mbappe a year ago, PSG harboured a very specific goal of winning the Europe’s elite club competition and with the kind of firepower at the front, the defeat had to be a tough one.

PSG dominated on certain phases of the game against Madrid and even took the lead with Rabiot’s goal.

The sight of the Spanish defender rubbing his arm after the incident only deepened the French side’s frustration.

PSG pushed for a second goal in the final few minutes as substitute Julian Draxler skied an effort well over from 20 yards out on the left, before Mbappe forced a save out of Navas from a tight angle on the left. “We have the character to turn it around”.

That was a cop-out by Al Khelaifi.

“We always say the same things, and we always get caught out in the same way”, Rabiot said.

95 – Ronaldo reached his century of Champions League goals in 95 appearances for Madrid.

Real Madrid came from behind to beat Paris St-Germain 3-1 on Wednesday, in a highly entertaining clash at the Bernabeu.

“In the world of football we know many people with vulture behaviour”.

Sadio Mane scored three goals, Mohammed Salah and Roberto Firmino each added one in the resounding win.

Cementing his status as a Champions League great, Ronaldo is the competition’s all-time top scorer with 117 goals and he doesn’t seem to stop anytime soon.

“It was a very good performance”, said Klopp.

Neymar, who cut a dejected figure at the end, said his side “committed errors at certain moments”.

Asked if he considered the tie done and dusted, Klopp gave an admirable lesson in diplomacy.

The Portuguese told Gol TV after the final whistle that his team had suffered when conceding the opener, but had the experience in the competition to keep playing their game and secure the victory. We didn’t put in a bad game but we need to improve if we are to have a chance of turning this around.

The Spanish sports newspapers were unanimous in their admiration for Cristiano Ronaldo
