Tullier, 41, an 18-year veteran of the Sheriff’s Office, is still listed in critical condition at a Baton Rouge area hospital.

An East Baton Rouge deputy who was shot in the head and stomach by a gunman who “intentionally targeted and assassinated” cops “is now fighting for his life”, according to Louisiana officials.

Faith and community leaders, black and white, also gathered at a Baton Rouge church Tuesday to discuss ways to improve police relations with black residents.

The deputy needs a machine to breathe, Gautreaux said.

East Baton Rouge Sheriff Sid Gautreaux said Monday the gunshots caused “extensive damage” to Tullier.

The sheriff said he had spoken to the two surgeons who operated on Tullier, but “he’s not in good shape right now”, on Monday.

“My deputy went down fighting”, Gautreaux said. “His vitals have gone up and down”. “We pray for their safety”. “I was actually mowing my lawn and I didn’t hear about it until 11 and I was actually a mile away from where it happened.” said another resident.

Garafola, 45, was fatally shot around 8:45 a.m. Sunday by a gunman who orchestrated an attack on police near the B-Quick convenience store on Airline Highway. “It was a calculated act”.

People were especially concerned about paying respects to the fallen officers during funeral processions and having a large concentration of law enforcement in one spot, reports WBRZ.

Officer Brad Garafola's wife arrived to pick him up from work. He would never make it home.
