Cross Breeze concept previews small crossover cabrio
The T-Cross Breeze gives a close preview on the lines and proportions of a new supermini crossover model that’s expected to be based on the platform and mechanicals of the next generation of VW Polo.

Volkswagen has unveiled its T-Cross Breeze convertible SUV at Geneva, showing its plans for an entry-level SUV. With the T-Cross we are providing a first look ahead to Volkswagen models to come. One particularly trick feature is a component of the “Active Info Display”, a feature which is created to mimic smartphone or tablet interfaces in the T-Cross Breeze’s infotainment system.
Volkswagen says it will offer SUVs in every relevant segment in future.
“The T-Cross Breeze reflects the new start for our brand”, Bischoff said in a statement.
A production T-Cross would slot below the subcompact crossover based on the T-Roc concept shown at the 2014 Geneva show that VW is expected to launch in the U.S.in 2018.
Unlike many recent VW concepts, including the Budd_e electric Microbus concept shown at last months’ Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, the T-Cross Breeze Concept doesn’t use an electrified drivetrain. Well we all knew that it’ll be a crossover when we heard the name “T-Cross” but when “Breeze” was added to the moniker, we figured we were in for a surprise and when it turned out to be a cabriolet, we were indeed! For example, it has a very wide front grille flanked by narrow headlights and comes with large LED rings around the fog lights. The concept’s power-a 1-liter, 3-cylinder turbo gas engine good for 108 hp-turns a 7-speed automatic that makes a 10-second run to 60 miles per hour possible.
Slotted beneath an upcoming vehicle that will be similar to the Golf-sized T-Roc Concept presented two years ago, the production T-Cross Breeze would be a Polo-class offering that introduces its own design themes and technologies.
Features include an interactive cockpit with touch-sensitive surfaces and newly developed “by-wire” solutions replace conventional switches and buttons.

If the production version stays within the price range of a Polo, we think we might see many converts to the idea of a CUV convertible. With 110bhp and 175Nm of torque on tap at 1500rpm, the compact direct injection unit channels drive to the front wheels via a seven speed dual shift double clutch gearbox.
