Crowd boos when Donald Trump attacks Ted Cruz at conservative confab
Here is the 1999 interview, brought to you by the Cruz campaign, in which Donald Trump elucidates what Ted Cruz now is referring to as “New York values”.

The Texas lawmaker was cornered by reporters in SC one day after Trump answered Cruz’s blast with an evocative tribute to the response of New Yorkers after the 9/11 terror attacks.
A Texas lawyer has filed the first lawsuit challenging Canada-born presidential hopeful Ted Cruz’s eligibility – and the senator’s archrival Donald Trump is reveling in the “birther” moment.
During Thursday night’s Fox Business Network debate, Cruz said, “Everyone understands that the values in New York City are socially liberal or pro-abortion or pro-gay marriage”.
Mr. Trump, appearing on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe”, accused Mr. Cruz of being “inappropriate” in raising questions about whether Mr. Trump’s mother’s citizenship status – she was born in Scotland – disqualifies him from running for president.
NBC News reported that Trump’s margin over Cruz sharply increased since last month, when the same poll found five points separating the two candidates.
Cruz “has no trouble taking money from New York City, but he’s quick to insult our people and our values”, said de Blasio.
Cruz’ comments drew sharp retorts for being insulting, divisive and hypocritical from New Yorkers including Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo, Mayor Bill de Blasio and Rep. Peter King (R-Seaford). “The man offended gays, he was offensive to women, he offended 18 million New Yorkers, he offended one of the largest congressional delegations by the way in the country and you can’t govern that way and it’s not who we are”.
“I recognize that Donald is dismayed that his poll numbers are falling in Iowa”, Cruz said.
Levin, a tea party favorite, took to Facebook on Saturday to slam the real-estate mogul over his attacks against Cruz, adding that Trump should “either cut the crap” or he “will lose lots and lots of conservatives” as supporters. It’s not hard to tell that they have taken great offense at the defamatory remarks from Ted Cruz.
New York Times opinion writer Ross Douthat begged to differ.
Some booed Trump for criticizing Cruz since they had cheered Cruz when he spoke to the group earlier.
Longtime New Yorker and Republican donor John Catsimatidis said Sen. You tell me that 33%, that 40% nationally, he didn’t just drill it down to a New Hampshire or an Iowa, where he’s leading by double digits, except against Cruz in Iowa where he’s much closer, but he’s at 27, 25. “I don’t”, Bartiromo said. But if that is the best hit New York Times has got, they better go back to the well.

Immediately after Thursday’s debate, Mr Trump told journalists at the media centre: “I guess the bromance is over”.
