He did the same on Saturday during a wet qualifying for the British Grand Prix, round 12 of 18, earning the pole for Sunday’s 20-lap race at the 3.73-mile Silverstone Circuit.

Valentino Rossi (Movistar Yamaha MotoGP) overtook Lorenzo into P2 in the title chase last time out in Brno, but the Italian has had more hard races at Silverstone than his key title rivals.
Marquez and Lorenzo have three victories each here while Rossi, who won last year’s race, has two. Today we were working for the race, the second practice we did almost all of the practice on used tires, trying to understand the tires and the electronics.
The first phase of qualifying began in wet conditions, albeit with laptimes rapidly falling as the track started to dry – and in the end, it was a matter of timing when a major shower hit in the closing stages. Unfortunately, this morning we made a small mistake, starting with the medium rear tyre, and I struggled, I was slow and crashed too. Ducati Team’s Andrea Iannone claimed the top time Friday, followed by Suzuki Team Ecstar’s Maverick Vinales and LCR Honda’s Cal Crutchlow, respectively.
“I like England because I got my first win here”, explained Independent Team points leader Hector Barbera, “but I also love Silverstone”.
Eugene Laverty is looking to savour his final taste of British Grand Prix action in MotoGP’s premier class this Sunday before returning to the World Superbike Championship next season with Milwaukee Aprilia. Regarding myself, I am looking forward to the British Grand Prix and I aim to get back to where I belong after the tough Czech GP. The situation has happened and I’m very thankful to everyone who has helped me in the last four or five days, including Monster Energy, the Yamaha Austria Racing Team, everyone at Tech3 and also all of my doctors, physiotherapists, and surgeons. We’re only at the start of the weekend and many changes can still change. “This year there are a lot of people who can be competitive in wet and dry…but I hope it’s dry”. Nonetheless, the Repsol Honda rider was satisfied with his performance.

“I always have extra support at my home GP with my fans there, which always puts a smile on my face, so it will be nice to see some familiar faces, family, friends and personal sponsors, which makes this race extra special”.
