Cruz Adds 21 Delegates With Sweep of Colorado’s Seven Congressional Districts

Advisers to Trump argue that the lack of focus on Colorado is a strategic decision, given that the state’s political lean and complicated convention process favors Cruz.

Colorado awards its delegates differently from the way most states do. Seeking to capitalize on this, Cruz has outmaneuvered Trump lately in the behind-the-scenes battle for delegates in places that don’t assign them through traditional primaries or caucuses.

Breitbart News asked Kohli if delegates that have pledged to a candidate are actually bound to that candidate, or could still chose another candidate during the first ballot at the July Republican National Convention in Cleveland.

United States presidential candidate and Texas Senator Ted Cruz has garnered the support of 21 total Colorado delegates to the Republican National Convention.

The Trump camp struggled to gain a footing at the congressional conventions earlier in the week from a series of reported missteps, but Trump supporters blame what they believe to be a delegate process that was unfair to the NY businessman. There was only one prerequisite to become a party delegate, according to one district GOP leader.

Bernie Sanders caught heat this week for saying Hillary Clinton was unqualified for the presidency, but Donald Trump is siding with the Vermont senator.

If the Republicans in these districts choose to reject Trump, they can have a vastly disproportionate pact, possibly denying him 12 delegates (two each) from the six minority districts.

“We made the conscious decision back in October that Colorado, because of the structure, just didn’t make sense for us to invest a lot of time and resources in”, he said. She said she wouldn’t speculate “on hypotheticals” about whether she’d change her vote if Trump didn’t get enough delegate support this summer.

One of Trump’s volunteers, Tony Polisi, said he didn’t expect Trump to win any delegates on Saturday.

Trump has been trying to beef up his team’s delegate expertise, recently hiring convention veteran Paul Manafort to organize and implement his convention push. Unpledged delegates have until votes are cast to make a choice.

“This is an example of Donald Trump managing, and the type of leadership he will bring to the presidency in November”, Manafort said in an exclusive interview with CNN’s Chris Cuomo. Delegate candidates strolled up and down the aisles holding Cruz campaign signs with their names and ballot position written in marker.

Cole says over 600 people are hoping to be selected, and each one will have 10 seconds to say why they deserve it. A victory in NY, with 95 delegates, would help Trump avoid a contested convention – but not guarantee it.

I’ve rarely watched the conventions for either party, but for some reason 2016 is turning into a year where I’m certain I’ll be glued to the TV screen to see how things transpire, especially at the Republican Convention in Cleveland, Ohio in a few months.

Is the game rigged against Trump and Sanders?
