Cruz close second to Trump in Iowa polls

Ted Cruz’s, R-Texas, Republican presidential campaign has more than doubled among likely Iowa Caucus-goers in the last month to tie him with party front-runner Donald Trump, a new poll has found.

Earlier Tuesday, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush said he strongly condemned Trump’s claims and he remembered “a lot of peaceful Muslims that were disheartened and grieved and sad and angry just as every other American was as well”. Marco Rubio had 13%.

The February 1 Iowa caucuses, the first contest for the Republican presidential nomination, has become “a two-tiered” affair, Brown said. No other candidate tops 2 percent, with 2 percent undecided, according to the poll.

Point taken but Dr. Ben Carson may still get points taken off for ignoring the part of the question that specifically said “in New Jersey”, since as potential presidential material you are supposed to pay very close attention to information like that. Today, the spotlight turns to Sen.

Retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson, who led Trump in some Iowa polls last month, has fallen to third place with 18 percent. And, as I have written before, what is happening in the Republican race is that most of the candidates – save Trump and, at times, Ben Carson – are playing by an established set of rules around what you can say and do.

Republican rival Donald Trump has repeatedly made such claims in recent days, despite strong pushback from local officials. Terrorism and foreign policy were each the top choice for 15 percent with 11 percent citing the federal deficit and 10 percent immigration as their top issues.

“(Chairman) Reince Priebus has an obligation to Donald Trump in order to treat him fairly, make sure the process treats him fairly, and if they don’t, this will be a very, very bad thing for the Republican Party”, Cohen said. In Quinnipiac’s October poll, Carson topped the field with 28%, while Trump earned 20%. Only Carson and Rubio are more likable among Republican voters, with Carson scoring a net favorability of 49 and Rubio scoring a 48. Cruz was second with 73 percent, while Rubio followed with 70 percent. So, anything that a member of the media calls a “fact” is inherently viewed as fishy (at best) by the people backing Trump.
