As Texas Republicans gather in Dallas for the state party convention this week, the biggest hurdle could be repairing the rift between GOP factions exacerbated by the 2016 presidential primary contest. One thing seemingly putting the kibosh on a reinvigorated run for Cruz, however: papers filed Wednesday-Gawker adds “papers for continued public humiliation”-with the Federal Election Commission and the Senate’s Office of Public Letters, Breitbart reports”.

Mr Cruz said that he is not yet ready to endorse Mr Trump (69).

He didn’t take Nebraska, but Ted Cruz has been dropping hints that he may restart his presidential bid, and news out of Texas leant a bit of momentum to that rumor.

His campaign committee, Ted Cruz for Senate, has been reactivated for his re-election bid.

“I’m very glad to be back in the Senate”, he said. Since the beginning, Woodfill has cast himself as a more assertive voice for conservative values, while Mechler has argued Woodfill’s tenure in Harris County spells danger for the financial health of the state party. Cruz is scheduled to address the convention on Saturday.

Tarrant County resident Sara Legvold suggested healing the rift would be hard, “They’re mesmerized by Cruz and he can do no wrong and they’re going to push him till the bitter end”. The others will be divided among Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz and John Kasich – who while no longer in the race, have chosen to keep their delegates.

Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick echoed the sentiment during his speech, though he ratcheted up the threat of Clinton winning Texas in November and actually mentioned Trump’s name. “That I came up short and disappointed their efforts, their time, their passion.” he said.
