Cruz offers ‘apology’ to New Yorkers
He then pointed to Cruz, “And I have to tell you that was a very insulting statement that Ted made”, which drew strong audience applause.

On Friday, Cruz landed himself on the cover of the New York Daily News in a headline telling him to “drop dead”.
Projections that the debate would be a free-for-all were accurate.
“Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton and Andrew Cuomo and Bill de Blasio have all demanded an apology, and I’m happy to apologize”, he told reporters after an event here.
The debate Thursday night in Charleston, S.C., broadcast by the Fox Business Channel, was, as anticipated, a lively bout between 10 candidates eager to survive the primaries and caucuses, which start February 1 in Iowa.
Following her remark this week that Americans should resist “the siren call of the angriest voices” in how they treat immigrants, South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley confirmed she was talking about Donald Trump.
Faced with another challenge from Bush and Rubio, Trump refused to back away from his his call to temporarily ban Muslims from immigrating to the United States.
But Cruz has been a national player for only about three years, since he came to the U.S. Senate. And you said it’s something you don’t know about, now he doesn’t know that he was a Canadian citizen?
Even so, the fact that Cruz has had to spend so much time explaining the issue means Trump is succeeding in keeping it alive.
Cruz’s presidential campaign has received $71,947 from 165 people who live in NY state, according to Federal Elections Commission records through September 30. And if you’re one of those people who still believes that somehow one candidate will rise and up unite the party behind him and against Trump, Thursday night’s affair should have extinguished your last glimmers of hope. Cruz, who is virtually tied with Trump in Iowa (and leading in some polls), seems best positioned to beat Trump, if anyone can.
CHRIS KEANE/REUTERS Cruz had previously bashed rival candidate Donald Trump for embracing “New York values”, which is apparently not a good thing in Cruz’s mind.
“Everyone understands that the values in New York City are socially liberal or pro-abortion or pro-gay marriage”, Cruz said, adding that New Yorkers are focused “around money and the media”. “In some cases, we’ve seen leading Republicans be totally co-opted by it”, the White House Press Secretary said. And we rebuilt downtown Manhattan, and everybody in the world watched and everybody in the world loved NY and loved New Yorkers.
“I’d like to interrupt this debate on the floor of the Senate”.
“You’re an American, as is everybody else on this stage”, Cruz said. Who do you think won?
Even if Cruz neutralized the issue over whether he failed to report the loan, its mere existence could pose a continuing problem for the Texas senator.
