Cruz, Rubio battle for undecided Iowans
Gov. Scott does have similarities with Donald Trump, as he is a former businessman who in Y 2010 spent $70-M of his own money to win the Governor’s race. His spirit haunts a party that can’t get enough of gloom and fear. “There are states for example like Nevada that are dominated by the federal government in terms of land holding and we should fix it, but no one should be doing it in a way that’s outside the law”. You can nearly hear the cheerful guy in the bright red tie saying, “Yes we can”. He meant it as a compliment. But his aim was not at the crowded field of Republicans he has to beat to win his party’s nomination in the coming months.

But since the beginning of the year, a new Rubio has appeared, a man given to funereal orations about the passing of the old America. Instead, his launching pad was generally considered to be New Hampshire, where establishment candidates like John McCain (2008) and Mitt Romney (2012) have cemented their front-runner status.
“Something’s happening”, Rubio declared, and the something, voters have been telling him, isn’t good: “This doesn’t look like my country anymore”. I feel left behind. “I’m glad he’s taking it”, Trump said. “This is craziness. Have people lost their minds?”
“There’s a lot of great candidates I’m not endorsing today, but they need to talk about the frustration of Americans to get this economy going again” Governor Scott said in an interview. The attack has become a regular part of Rubio’s stump.
Rubio does support giving illegal immigrants a path to becoming legal.
Nevada is an attractive state for Rubio for many reasons. He is also, shall we say, flexible, his shifts on immigration being especially hard to keep up with.
Cruz is working to build on his strong Iowa polling this week with a 28-stop, six day bus tour focused largely on small towns and farm communities.
This take on the contest doesn’t appreciate how complicated voters are. Cruz’s brand of conservatism is not a natural fit for the more moderate Republican set in the Granite State. Some of them were represented in the McGinley living room, including Rick and Johanne McQuaide. Both McQuaides were pondering whether Rubio might be the better messenger.
McCain on Wednesday said questions about Cruz’s eligibility due to his being born in Canada should be explored, keeping the issue alive after Donald Trump raised concerns about it earlier in the week. However, the support of Paul Singer, a billionaire who has poured millions of dollars into gay rights causes, also has given evangelicals pause when it comes to Rubio, reports The New York Times.
Trump has publicly avoided discussing the specifics on his national security policies, aside from his call for construction of a wall on the USA border with Mexico and his vow to “cut the head off ISIS and take their oil”.

“We have isolationist candidates who are apparently more passionate about weakening our military and intelligence capabilities than they are about destroying our enemies”, said Rubio.
