Cruz running for re-election in 2018
Nebraska and West Virginia are holding their primaries Tuesday, but with Donald Trump as the presumptive GOP nominee, there’s probably not too much hope for Cruz to win either of those states.

“The reason we suspended our campaign was that with the IN loss, I felt there was no path to victory”, Cruz said, according to a report IN The Hill. “If that changes, we will respond accordingly”.
Will Ted Cruz re-enter the GOP presidential race?
“It looks to me, at the beginning of the race, Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania look pretty competitive”, he said.
Cruz’s interview with Beck was his first media appearance since he dropped out of the race following a devastating loss to Trump a week ago in the in primary.
Usually, all Republicans should commit to supporting the party’s nominee for the general elections, but, like mentioned above, Ted Cruz doesn’t plan to do so, considering the multiple attacks Donald Trump launched against him and his family.
Later in the day, after arriving at his Senate Washington office from Texas, Cruz told reporters that “we have withdrawn from the campaign”.
“And so with a heavy heart, but with boundless optimism, for the long-term future of our nation, we are suspending our campaign”, Cruz said.
“The Republican convention isn’t for another two-and-a-half months, the election isn’t for another six months”, he said. “I will continue to press in the Senate the very same things I pressed for on the campaign trail”, Cruz said. “You and I both want to support a conservative”, he said.
Others have called for a more conservative candidate to go up against Trump and his likely Democratic challenger, Hillary Clinton.
“The people who I am fighting for are single moms, and young people, and Hispanics, and African-Americans”, he said. While Cruz could change his mind, running for re-election in 2018 puts to rest some speculation he would sit out a second term to prepare for a comeback bid for the White House in 2020.
Cruz said much of the media and the Washington establishment were writing his failure off as the death knell of the conservative movement – and that, he said, was wrong.

“If circumstances change, we will always assess changed circumstances”, said Cruz.
