Cruz, Sanders get wins in Wisconsin; Bradley wins court race

Turnout in the Badger State is projected to have its highest turnout in a presidential primary since 1980. Democrat Bernie Sanders triumphed over Hillary Clinton but still faces a mathematically hard path to the White House.

That means Sanders must still win 67 percent of the remaining delegates and uncommitted superdelegates in order to win the Democratic presidential nomination. “They can not believe it. I think it is fair to say that they’re shocked”. At a raucous rally in Wyoming, Sanders cast his victory as a sign of mounting momentum for his campaign. “We have total confidence that Mr Trump will go on to win in NY, where he holds a substantial lead in all the polls, and beyond”.

There was also good news for Democrats generally.

While Trump finished about as well as usual in most groups, Cruz far outperformed his support in previous primaries, running +35 points among voters looking for an experienced candidate, +25 among mainline Republicans and voters focused on shared values and +24 those who cited the economy as their main concern and among strong conservatives. And Democratic voters could bolster and extend the momentum behind Bernie Sanders in his challenge to frontrunner Hillary Clinton.

After his victory in Wisconsin, Ted Cruz declared it was a night for unity and hope where young people could look forward to jobs being brought back to the United States.

Voters in Wisconsin just weren’t as angry, or frustrated, with Republican leadership as voters in other states.

“If we do well here, folks, it’s over”, Trump told supporters, which is what many of his foes fear. The RealClearPolitics average of major state polls shows Cruz with a 4.7-point lead over Trump on primary day.

But Cruz and Trump may have an uphill climb in November. His campaign manager, Corey Lewandowski, was arrested and charged with battery in Florida for grabbing a reporter.

A majority of Republican voters say they’re either concerned or scared of a potential Trump presidency, exit polls show.

“Ted Cruz is a puppet – he is a Trojan horse being used by the party bosses attempting to steal the nomination from Mr. Trump”, said the campaign in a statement reported by MSNBC. Even with 33 delegates from Wisconsin, Cruz still trails Trump by more than 200.

Republican Donald Trump emerged from Wisconsin as a damaged front-runner following a crushing loss to rival Ted Cruz, deepening questions about the billionaire businessman’s presidential qualifications and pushing the GOP toward a rare contested convention fight. Cruz did better: More than 4 in 10 named Cruz as the Republican with the best chance. The Ohio Governor has only won his home state thus far, and lags behind the other two candidates badly in the delegate count.

“I hear the polls are busy”.

On the Democratic side, Sanders is aiming to capitalize on a hot streak heading into the delegate-rich NY primary on April 19, where Clinton hopes to secure a win on home turf to maintain her big delegate lead.

“I’ve been all over Wisconsin”.

– Cruz’s Wisconsin win came after everything went perfectly for him.

“We know that the misleading spin will continue, but we wanted you to know the facts”, Mook wrote.

Sanders, however, won big among independents who were allowed to cast ballots in Tuesday’s open contest. They are trying to deny him the majority of delegates and force a contested convention in July.

John Weaver, Kasich’s chief strategist, maintained Tuesday night that the campaign’s internal data confirm his strength.

That sort of sentiment resonated with Lisa Oleniczak, who voted for Trump at a precinct in Oak Creek, just south of Milwaukee.

Republican presidential candidate Sen.

“I don’t like some of Trump’s statements – like cutting down McCain for being captured”, he said. She had already turned much of her attention ahead to the larger stakes in NY. Cruz’s efforts to cozy up to the establishment take on new urgency in the run-up to northeastern states where he isn’t widely popular.
