Cruz supporters boo Trump at conservative gathering
Trump, who needs a victory in Iowa to set a winning tone to his campaign, kept up his attempt to undermine Cruz’s attempt to portray himself as an outsider to the political establishment. He says Trump, Cruz and Rubio look like the front-runners.

On Saturday morning, Mr Trump, whose bombastic style is frequently displayed on Twitter and TV talk shows, delivered a fresh broadside against the Texas senator.
Cruz finished with “good news for the good people of NY”, arguing that 2016 will be a change election.
On Saturday, after climbing out of an elevator that got stuck before fully hitting its floor, Cruz joked to reporters: “Who put Donald Trump in charge of the elevator?”
“When the World Trade Center came down, I saw something that no place on Earth could have handled more beautifully, more humanely than NY”, he said to applause from the crowd in North Charleston, S.C. He added: “I have to tell you, that was a very insulting statement that Ted made”.
“I recognize that Donald is dismayed that his poll numbers are falling in Iowa”, Cruz said. In fact NY donations have contributed a large amount of money to the Cruz campaign prior to those comments. But he urged activists to back a consistent conservative meaning, not Trump.
Cruz has said that, while he was born in Canada, he is constitutionally eligible for the presidency because his mother was a US citizen. And he saved his barbs until the end of a meandering 45-minute speech. Cruz will attend the last event in the series on Tuesday. He also noted: “No wonder banks do so well in the US Senate”. “We have forged one city, one state, and one family”.
The disclosure of the loan from Citibank comes after the Texas senator was already facing scrutiny for failing to properly report a loan from Goldman Sachs for $500,000 that was also used to fund his 2012 bid. Each risks losing ground among conservatives that haven’t yet made up their minds between the two candidates, or inflaming their opponent’s base against them. Previously, Mr. Cruz had acknowledged only using the loan from Goldman for his campaign. He has admitted what he says is an inadvertent error and will amend all the necessary forms, they argue.
Yet Trump could prove the exception.
“I’ve lived in New York City and Manhattan all my life”, Trump said.
“I apologize to the millions of New Yorkers who have been let down by liberal politicians in that state”, Cruz told the press.
“Who the hell knows if you can even serve in office?”
The next and final Republican debate before the caucus is January 28 in Iowa.
GOP presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee delivered a message on Saturday to the South Carolina Tea Party Coalition Convention about faith, American values, and taking the White House back from the Democratic Party.
“That is not consistent conservatism”, he said.

“You give a campaign contribution to Ted Cruz, you get whatever the hell you want”, he said, the boos beginning. Cruz said those values – pro-abortion rights, including supporting partial birth abortion and pro-gay marriage – explained Trump’s worldview.
