Meanwhile, rock legend Bruce Springsteen has described Donald Trump as an embarrassment to the United States, saying the Republican presidential candidate is a demagogue with simple solutions.

In a statement Friday, Trump said he was “greatly honored” by Cruz’s endorsement. The day after the convention, Trump said, “All I did was point out the fact that on the cover of the National Enquirer, there was a picture of him and insane Lee Harvey Oswald having breakfast”.

“After many months of careful consideration, of prayer and searching my own conscience, I have decided that on Election Day, I will vote for the Republican nominee, Donald Trump”, Cruz wrote on Facebook.

Second, he chose to support Trump mainly because he wants to prevent Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton from winning the race.

Yet Cruz would not say when asked whether Trump is “fit” to be president. “And I have not been at all reluctant to articulate exactly why I believe that I should be the nominee instead of him”, Cruz said.

“I think we have one of two choices”, Cruz replied. After wrapping up his explanation of the Trump endorsement, Cruz said he trusts the group will continue to vet Republicans seeking its support.

Asked Friday night how involved he would like to be in Trump’s campaign, Cruz told the Tribune he will “do whatever I can to defeat Hillary Clinton and to help preserve the Republican majority in the Senate, and also to help turn out conservatives in Texas”.

But is seems that Ted Cruz has let the past in the past and is ready to begin a friendly political campaign next to Donald Trump by announcing his support for the Republican candidate and sharing the hashtag #NeverHillary.

“There was no option that wouldn’t result with people who are deeply, deeply unhappy”, Cruz said.

While the opening ceremony of the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture was a nonpartisan event, there was a little politicking going on. Cruz said Saturday that he spoke with Trump a day earlier, after announcing that he will vote for the nominee, and Trump “was very gracious” but didn’t apologize for what he said about his family.

Trump’s naming of Cruz ally, Utah Sen. Trump during the campaign took high-profile, repeated swipes at Cruz’s wife and father – and even dredged them up during the general election campaign after Cruz had dropped out.

“Both Heidi and my dad – they are strong, independent people” who’ve forgiven the remarks, Cruz said.
