Cruz works to draw contrasts with Rubio
In a sweeping new policy blueprint unveiled Friday, Senator Ted Cruz attacked legal and illegal immigration from all angles, proposing to build a wall on the U.S.-Mexico border, increase deportations of undocumented people, and slow the flow of visas for foreign workers.

Cruz’s illegal immigration hew to his outspoken calls for cracking down on those who are in the country without proper status.
The escalation is playing out amid growing speculation that the GOP primary could come down to Cruz and Rubio, two freshman senators who rode waves of Tea Party support into office – Rubio in 2010, Cruz in 2012. Rubio’s struggle to appear both tough and compassionate on immigration is giving him fits and already has opened him to attacks from Cruz and others who tag him with the “amnesty” label. “If he’s changed that position – and certainly he has a right to change his position on that issue – but he should be clear about that”, Rubio said Friday. Rubio was an original sponsor of a bill calling for comprehensive changes in immigration policy, a position he has backed off during his campaign. “Ted Cruz is definitely stronger than Marco Rubio on many things, mainly immigration”. And Cruz now no longer supports an increase in the number of visas until the program is reformed, spokeswoman Catherine Frazier said Wednesday.
About one-fifth of Democratic superdelegates who answered the survey said they believe Bush, who is fighting to stem a slide in GOP polls, could bounce back and pose a threat to Clinton, given his name recognition and early fundraising. But it looks like the choice may boil down to Rubio or Cruz.
“I think we should supply arms directly to the Kurds”, said Paul”. The fact is, though, that while one can debate the merits of increasing or decreasing legal immigration, illegal immigration is ten times worse, because it is unscreened, it usually features individuals with lesser education and abilities, and many more end up committing crimes or going on welfare.
“This belief that the Hispanic community is in favor of illegal immigration is false”.
Marco Rubio so far has proved himself skilled at ducking punches concerning his failure to show up for votes and his use years ago of a Republican Party credit card. Nevertheless, Cruz says returning to the gold standard deserves serious consideration.
“It is not complicated that on the seminal fight over amnesty in Congress, the Gang of Eight bill, that I stood with the American people and led the fight to defeat it”, Cruz said. The former differed from the Gang of Eight bill, the latter did not. So, for example, the Democrats claimed they were supporting high-tech workers so I introduced an amendment on that-and every Democrat voted against it. It demonstrated that this was all a political endeavor for them and that what they were saying wasn’t true. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, right, accompanied by Sen.
For Cruz, the Rubio broadside is a wide departure from the first seven months of his campaign, when he assiduously avoided commenting directly on his competitors.
“Like everybody else in America”, Georgia Democrat Dan Halpern said, he’s “just wondering when the wind is going to come out from under the sails of both Carson and Trump”.
“Everybody on that stage has supported the legalization of people who are in the country illegally”, Rubio said. He calls Rubio a “friend” and “fellow son of Cuban immigrants”, but said he still has the upper hand. Republican presidential rivals Rubio and Cruz are backpedaling… “I think the first war was a mistake and I’m not for another one”.

“The American people do not trust the federal government to enforce our immigration laws”, saying the crisis at the border and President’s executive actions have only exacerbated the situation.
