During an Major League Baseball season where there was no shortage of young stars, Chicago Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant and Houston Astros shortstop Carlos Correa towered above the rest.
“He means a lot to my baseball career”, Correa said.
The surprise top pick in the 2012 amateur draft, Correa recalled how a few questioned whether he warranted that selection. The Chicago Cubs’ third baseman Kris Bryant was rewarded for his sensational season with that award.
Both Correa and Bryant made the league minimum $507,500 in 2015, a number that is likely to increase as these two players turn into superstars. “The only expectations that really matter are the ones that you put on yourself”. That’s something I definitely want to get back to. Bryant was named Rookie of the Year unanimously thanks to his monstrous regular season, during which he hit.275/.369/.488 (133 OPS+) with 26 home runs and 99 RBI. Maddon – a two-time AL Manager of the Year with the Tampa Bay Rays – is a finalist along with Terry Collins (New York Mets) and Mike Matheny (St. Louis Cardinals). “It’s just been an incredible year for me”. Everyone that’s been a huge support system for me for this whole season.
McCann did not appear on any of the 30 ballots cast in the AL Rookie of the Year voting conducted by the Baseball Writers Association of America.
