Cubs shortstop Addison Russell leaves game in fourth inning

After leaving game 3 of the National League Divisional Series against the St. Louis Cardinals with a hamstring injury, Chicago Cubs’ shortstop Addison Russell’s status for Game 4 is uncertain.

Molina missed the last part of the regular season due to a strained ligament in his thumb. The seven-time All-Star is 1 for 8 with two strikeouts in the series.

Chicago leads 2-1 in the best-of-series.

Tony Cruz will catch for the Cardinals.

Javier Baez is starting at shortstop in Game 4 on Tuesday. It is unclear if Russell would be available to pinch hit or take the field as a defensive replacement.

“I would think that if he had to come out of the game, I’d be hard-pressed to believe he would be ready for (Thursday)”, Maddon said Tuesday.
