The 27-year-old Gyorko hit.
In 59 regular-season games for Kansas City, Zobrist hit.
He had a. 276 batting average last season with 13 home runs and 56 RBIs.
Zobrist played his first nine seasons with Tampa Bay when Maddon ran the team.
Last night’s episode of the show had reaction to the Starlin Castro trade and more on the Jose Fernandez rumors.

The Cubs gets a veteran pitcher who has good experience in the rotation and in the bullpen. He has already made it to three All-Star games in his short career, but had a rough 2015 campaign that saw him lose his spot at shortstop, before returning weeks later as a second baseman.
The Yankees, despite having an obvious need at second base, didn’t pursue Ben Zobrist. You look for outstanding defense and offensive production, ” Girardi said of two areas Ackley and Refsnyder don’t qualify. I think he liked a lot about what we were.

“It hasn’t and isn’t part of our DNA to accept that full-blown commitment to a rebuild”, Cashman said. Obviously he immediately fits as their primary second baseman, but he also presumably slides into the role of backup shortstop (giving Didi Gregorius an occasional day off against lefties). Mostly a reliever before 2015, he started 17 games for the Yankees this past season and posted a 3.66 ERA in that role with a 1.219 WHIP and just eight homers allowed in 96 innings.
