The Detroit Tigers roller coaster season continued this past weekend when they lost two of three to the last place Boston Red Sox at Comerica Park to drop to 54-57 on the season. The Royals have won five of their last six games when scoring more than three runs.

“I felt really proud the fans were just feeding me that last little boost of energy I needed”. Rookie Jefry Marte kept things close in the seventh inning with his third homer in 16 major-league contests before the Tigers yielded four in the eighth en route to their second 7-2 loss in the series.

Cueto struck out Anthony Gose on three pitches to begin the game as the festive Kauffman Stadium crowd roared with approval. Royals mascot Sluggerrr wore dreads in honor of Cueto’s debut and he looked phenomenal.

“It’s fun to watch; it really keeps you in the game”, said first baseman Eric Hosmer, alluding to both Cueto’s results and the means to it via the “leg-kick-or-whatever-you-call-it motion”. In the rematch, the Royals got to Boyd for three runs in the first inning.

Left-hander Matt Boyd limited the Royals to one run over seven innings in his Tigers debut Wednesday.

Zobrist went 3 for 3 with a walk.

RBI machine:Two hitters later, Kendrys Morales ripped a single to left-center and Cain scored to give the Royals a 3-0 lead.

In the second inning, J.D. Martinez doubled in the second on a ball that appeared more playable than right fielder Alex Rios made it. If his arm responds well Tuesday, he could be ready to pitch.
