Cult drama Stranger Things picked up for second season

Season 2 will debut in 2017 and consist of 9 episodes – one longer than the first season, which follows the disappearance of a young boy and a telekinetic girl who helps his friends with their search.

The trailer for the series’ sequel actually reveals very little – it’s essentially just a titles sequence with the show’s ominous and much-adored soundtrack playing in the background. One more episode will also be added, making this season with a total of nine episodes instead of eight.

A report by Entertainment Weekly reveals that Stranger Things season 2 will feature four new characters which will join the core cast.

“There’s still more story here [in the 1980s], there’s still things that are unresolved”, Ross Duffer explained.

But first, let’s wait and see if Stranger Things season 2 can maintain the momentum of season 1. According to the duo, nearly the entire cast from the first season will return to Hawkins, Indiana, which includes Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo and more.

In an interview, Shawn Levy and Dan Cohen, show producers, confirmed that the upcoming season is the continuation of Season 1.

The show is perhaps the most successful evocation of the 1980s sci-fi horror genre we’ve seen, and has proved a great success for Netflix.

Also, we don’t need to have the skill set of Sheriff Hopper (David Harbour) to put the pieces together that one of new characters could play a major role when looking at the episode titled “The Lost Brother”.

‘So part of what we want to do with hypothetical season two is to explore the repercussions of everything that happened’. As much as we love Netflix series, they’ve been kind of hit-and-miss with their second seasons. But Season 2 is sure to be premiered in 2017.
